hisao gonokami san was born in 1954 in chichibu-shi saitama-ken (japan) where
he spent his childhood and youth. in his hometown he also laid the
foundation for a career as a japanese business man. but hisao gonokami-san
always found the time to devote to his favourite hobby: making sushi.
his other interests include exploring new cultures (especially european).
in
1987 he found a job advertisement for the position of a sushi chef
in frankfurt, germany. he decided to leave his former career behind
and to turn his sushi hobby into his new purpose in life. from frankfurt
he later went to wiesbaden before he settled down in berlin about
10 years ago.
he refined his abilities of the japanese kitchen
in the restaurant udagawa before he took a posiition in the restaurant
koyato where he concentrated on creating sushi. since October 2002
he demonstrates his expertise in goko.
hisao gonokami san values the traditional japanische art of sushi very
highly. he always wishes to introduce this to all his guests. it
is his greatest pleasure to see his german guests delighting on
his sushi creations. privately he also prefers the japanese kitchen,
but when offered sushi made by somebody else, he usually declines
and rather spends his time with his other favourite: golf.
